Annual sales exceeded $2 billion, and production capacity of chlorfenamide soared

chlorantraniliprole is a biamide insecticide developed by DuPont (now Codihua) in the United States, which has the characteristics of high efficiency, low toxicity and broad spectrum. Chlorfenamide not only has a good control effect on lepidoptera and diptera pests, but also can control coleoptera, homoptera and other pests. It is mainly used for the control of rice, corn, cotton, soybeans, vegetables, fruit trees and other special crops, and has become the first insecticide in the global market. With the gradual withdrawal of highly toxic and high-risk pesticide varieties from the historical stage, the reduction of pesticide use continues to advance, and chlorobenzamide is increasingly favored by the market.

After the listing of chlorfenamide, global sales exceeded $1 billion in 2013, and sales exceeded $2 billion in 2022, with rapid growth. Since 2014, chlorobenzamide sales ranked first in insecticide sales, and has maintained the first market position in sales. With sales of $1.75 billion in 2019, chlorobenzamide contributed 72% of global sales of bisamide insecticides.

The demand for chlorobenzamide is still growing globally, and more and more domestic enterprises have begun to join the production of chlorobenzamide. At present, there are 14 original drug certificates for chlorobenzamide in China, and the number of preparations registered for chlorobenzamide is 211.

According to the statistics of the China Pesticide Industry Association, as of now, China's chlorobenzamide production capacity of about 142,500 tons (including in the production capacity and environmental assessment public capacity), but the current global chlorobenzamide demand of about 10,000 tons/year, if the planned production capacity is put into full production, in the future for a long period of time, chlorobenzamide production capacity will be in surplus. The market competition is fierce and extremely internal, enterprises want to break through the difficulties to highlight the encircling, and ultimately return to the advanced production process, resistance management and application of technical services to improve and refine.
